Rewrite The Declaration of Independence

Below is the assignments the students will get today, we will work on it next week in class:

Preamble
            Introduction
                        For this assignment you need to introduce who or whom you are talking about in this declaration
           
Focus
                        This assignment, you need to focus on your parents or other family member that you would like to be dependant/independent of, no using people’s names.
                        If you are choosing a person not in your family, you need to look at why you do not want to be around them.
                        You may choose to have an issue with the government/school.  In the Preamble, you will then describe our government/school to give an overview of what it is like.

            Length
Your description should be about 3 sentences to describe the person or thing that angers you/makes you happy.

Declaration of Natural Rights
            Rights that each person has
                        Regardless of what person you have grievances against; the Declaration of Natural Rights Section will be your voice as to what 14 year olds should be able to do. 

            Focus
                        This section will be written about changes in laws or keeping them the same to ensure that people around the age of 14 are treated fairly. 

            Length
                        This section should be about 1 paragraph long (10 sentences-Introduction, 4 reasons and whys, concluding sentence).  This section should include all of the different laws you want changed or kept the same for 14 year olds.  It can also be about rules that you believe should be changed for 14 year olds.

List of Grievances
          Grievances
                        You will list the positives/grievances that you have with the person/government/school rules.

            Focus
                        This section should be written in list form, but done in complete sentences.  Each positive/grievance should be specific as to what positive/problem you have with a person or government and why. 

            Length
                        This section should be a minimum of 7 grievances done with complete sentences.

Resolution
            The end of the document
                        This section will be the concluding paragraph to the section

            Focus
                        This section will be written as a conclusion to everything you said.  You should have a plan as to how this problem you have can be solved or an appreciation for who you are with.

            Length
                        The length should be about a paragraph-focusing on how you can resolve the issues to make your relationship or continue to make your life better.

Post-test options

Some students struggled on the short quiz on Friday, so there will be an alternative assignment today for the students who want get some of their points back.
