Ship ride

This week we started the ship ride to America.  The students created a list of items to take to the new world, packed barrels full of supplies and found out about the perils of voyages across the ocean.  For Monday, the students need to create a journal entry on things that happened to people on the voyage.  Below is a list of things that happened to people.

Bitten by a rat on the ship.
death
sea-sickness
waves
vomiting
scurvy
dysentery- severe diarrhea associated with blood in the feces
Storms
Cold weather

boils- inflammation of hair follicles, thus resulting in the localized accumulation of pus 
Pirates have attacked and taken your supplies







Fever
Childbirth
Lost a member who was in the Crow's Nest
Lack of wind
cancer Come from old and sharply salted food and meat
Water-sea water
constipation
Cracked main beam
You break a bone and need an amputation with no medicine

whole biscuit there the size of a dollar full of red worms and spiders' nests.
Belongings were drenched with sea water and ruined
2 feet width and 6 feet length in the bedstead-heat
headache
Lice
stench
Water (lack of) often very black, thick and full of worms
scurvy



A day's activities might be as follows:
1.Wake up, put away the bedding
2.Prayers
3.Breakfast
4.In good weather, activities like reading, games, exercise on deck
5.Cooking by the women in good weather
6.Dinner (noon meal)
7.Activities similar to the morning
8.Supper
9.Prayers
10.    Sleep
